This place deserves 10 stars out of 5 Unbelievable service, standards and food Unlike our friends at "BoKampers" Visit at least 1-2 times a week As soon as we enter we are greeted by our name, they know what we like and damn it these guys go out of their way to please Otherwise they would be out of business , hence the location Ok, it's not on the water or on the beach, but hey We go there for the food and service which is out of this world Maybe "Mario D" (customer complaints dept) for BURGER FU should visit there so he can see what SERVICE should be Love you guys See you soon

I liked this place WAY more then I expected to. We wanted to try a new spot for Friday night. Looking for a good spot to end of a long week and kick off a weekend of unplugging. I had the steak and shrimp. Hubby had scallops and shrimp. Its not a big deal that they dont make it tableside. I wasnt up for a show. We had a decent bottle of wine and a good meal. Service is S-L-O-W but very friendly. I can't imagine they;re still working out the kinks. So if you're not in a hurry and don't mind lingering to chat with friends while you wait for your check, you'll be fine.

This place is fantastic! I love it and will definitely go back! My girlfriend and I went at 8pm on a Friday night and were immediately sat at a booth (very comfy booth too!). She ordered the chicken and steak hibachi combo, I got the chicken pad Thai. Both dishes were excellent and prepared perfectly. Although I thought the portion size of the Hibachi combo were a bit on the small side. Ohh, and the rocket shrimp appetizer was yummy too!

Found my new place!!! This place is amazing. It's cute, quaint and cozy. The food is amazing as well as the service is outstanding. I went with a group of friends and everyone was pleased. I ordered off of the hibachi menu (steak&shrimp). So full of flavor. The sake is to die for! The waitress was so polite and fun. A great place for an intimate date or a girls night out!

I purchased a Groupon for Sam and me to try out Oaki Steakhouse before I ever even thought to look at Yelp to see its ratings. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Oaki was rated very highly amongst Yelpers. Most people suggested getting the hibachi meats, but once I got there I saw that the portion sizes for hibachi were fairly small. Sam and I were both starving so we decided that we should order something else. We both ordered the Pad Thai. I got chicken and Sam got shrimp. We also ordered Crab Rangoon and Thai teas. The Crab Rangoon was amazing! One of the best I've ever had! The Thai teas were also super delicious. I was a little disappointed with my Pad Thai. I think they put too much egg in it. As I was eating it, all I could smell was egg which kind of grossed me out. I usually love Pad Thai, but I did not enjoy this dish. Probably the worst Pad Thai I've ever had :(. Sam, on the other hand, really enjoyed his shrimp Pad Thai, so go figure. I think I would give Oaki Steakhouse another shot, definitely for the Crab Rangoon again. I should probably order the hibachi like everyone suggests next time too.

Oaki is kind of a makeshift restaurant; hibachi but they don't do it in front of you. I had chicken and shrimp grill; it was totally average. No taste cooked into the food. I could have made what I had in a toaster oven. So 2 stars it is.

Wow! Can't believe how awesome this place is!! Let me start by saying that Asian/Chinese cuisine is not on the top of my list of favorite foods but my hubby LOVES it!! On a recommendation we went for his birthday and it was awesome! Apps were awesome, crab Rangoon fried calamari and some kinda shrimp stuffed with chicken and deep fried ...all great with amazing sauces!! Pad Thai was really good! My most favorite thing was the oaki house rice!! I don't even like rice in general and I swear to you I would eat buckets of this stuff!! Everyone enjoyed their meals and the pricing was pretty good. Very small place though...maybe 6-8 tables?? Got the groupon and went again the other evening and the spring rolls I think they were (deep fried rolls served with lettuce cup carrots and mint) so f@&$ing good!! New favorite app!! Anyways I would highly recommend this place!!

Went there with a groupon, will definitely be going back. Food was amazing, sauces were great and service was excellent! I've been driving past Oaki for years, first time going was not disappointed!!! Big portions not to expensive.

I finally ventured into this unassuming spot and so happy we did. A menu that offers Thai/Japanese/Hibachi favorites in a modern and welcoming venue. We started with Thai iced teas and a delicious appetizer of crab rangoon served with a tangy sweet chili sauce that left our taste buds teased and ready for our main course. We ordered the hibachi style filet and scallop dinners. Both were served with steamed rice and veggies and a salad. Our food tasted fresh, the establishment was clean and bright, and the service so polite . Overall Oaki impressed with its far east dining delights, so i'm proud to spread the word and recommend this spot to foodies 'round Fort Laudy!

Went there recently for lunch with a Groupon. I had the crisy duck with wok fried veggies that was excellent and came with a miso soup.My partner had a Veg Pad Thai tha was well prepared also. The place is immaculate and the staff are extremely polite .Looking forward to going back again. Many of the lunch specials are 10.00 , a supurb bargain btw.

My experience here has always been positive and my last visit was no exception .From the host to the server ,Oaki manages to be consistent in terms of great service, wonderful food and a quiet atmosphere. This little gem of a place offers a nice selection of asian food with many healthy options I chose shaking beef which had a wonderfully flavored marinade,it came with a good portion of vegetables and rice which I upgraded to their fried rice. Appetizers were shumai and gyoza which were light and flavorful. I would highly recommend this restaurant as a nice place for a date or with an intimate group of friends.

    (5)
  • Mark K.

Food is delicious!!! Love the creativeness on the presentation. It is not too expensive and staff is very helpful. The shumai appetizer was actually dim sum steamed in a wooden steamer and not a microwaved frozen dumpling like other places! Will post a picture of my shumai.

Came here for dinner. The dining area is pretty small and my opinion oddly organized (could very well be a personal thing). My biggest criticism is the lack of the true hibachi experience as the food is not actually made in front of you like other Japanese steakhouses. The food was very middle of the road, but the staff was pretty attentive (yet one server seemed like she really didn't want to be there :/). I tried it, but probably won't do it again.

The food is excellent and the service is extremely friendly. My husband had the Pad Thai it is the best I have ever tried. The hibachi dishes are cooked perfectly and the fried rice leaves you craving for more!

Oaki is a little neighborhood gem that I would recommend. When the restaurant first opened, my family and I would come eat every single week. I don't know why we stopped doing that. It's such a great restaurant. Either the chefs or the owner is part vietnamese because I see a very strong Vietnamese influence in their dishes. For example, the grilled beef appetizer and the cat fish entree. These are well known and well loved dishes in the Vietnamese culture. I highly recommend the grilled beef. It's soo juicy and the marinate is to die for! I can easily eat 2 orders of the grilled beef by myself. They also have a lot of your typical Japanese items like Tataki and Habachi grill. However - if you want to try something that would blow your socks off... go for the grilled beef & the fried donuts for dessert. You won't regret it! Also, check for groupons ;)

First , there are no hibachi tables. It's all done behind glass I'll say portions . We had lunch. I ordered hibachi steak MW. It came w/ a lot of zucchini + onion two very small pieces of carrot, $ 13.00 Also a nice lite egg fried rice . I had a choice miso soup or salad / w ginger dressing . Personally the steak was like rubber + there were three sauces, teriyaki , soy + what he called Yum Yum sauce , what I think was just mustard , mayo + possible water., not so yummy to me . I took the soup a little salty for my liking . My companion had the Basil Duck served on a slice of roman lettuce w/ a lot of carrots + onion. Also w/ the rice . $13.00 + a ice tea $2.00 . Ya know it was just OK for me But allot of Yelper's have been bragging about this place .

The food was good but the service and speed was less than impressive. We waited in 19 minutes to be seated. We're seated at a table for four. Ordered our food. Then the staff asked us to move to a booth so they can accommodate a party of eight. We move. But I think that was extremely rude of them to do . 45 minutes to our food came out. good food but horrible experience

After reading the reviews I was excited to enjoy my dinner here. To start when we sat down and looked at the chef he was drinking a tall glass of beer. not the best first impression. We still had hope... Ordered Crab Rangoon as an app and they didnt have any. Strike 2.. Then go to order dinner i want the hibachi shrimp and scallops and guess what nope they are out of scallops... At this point we should have just left but we decided to go ahead and try something else and it was just a let down.. It was not terrible just not good.. Sorry but we wont be going back.

The quality of the food is top notch here. The Volcano Sea Bass and the Duck Basil were excellent except for the chili sauce on the Sea Bass was a little watery and not nearly as spicy as I had hoped. I recommend getting some Sriracha hot sauce on the side if you're a fire-phile as I am. The duck was very tasty but could have been crispier, so I recommend requesting it extra crispy when you go. The Miso Soup and House Salad were as good as I've had anywhere. Altogether a nice date night place with good acoustics and ambiance. The decor is very cozy and intimate although you may need your cell phone light to read the menu or the bill.

I love little restaurants and this one was amazing the food tasted so fresh and was so good the service was great as well. We got the hibachi and fried rice the flavors we're just so good. Oaki steakhouse doesn't look like much from the outside As a matter of fact, the tiny inside looks just a little bit better. So what's the lure of Oaki? Quality food at a reasonable price. The wine list is short, but there are some decent bottles under $30. Appetizers were rather tasty Gyoza and Crab Rangoon $8 range were great. I did not care for the soup choices and opted for the $5 blue crab soup. A little to fishy tasting and smelling for my taste Filet and shrimp combination for $18 was a steal, and tasty. Teriyaki steak was a small portion but also nicely prepared. Finish with fried doughnuts was heavenly Service is indeed slow but pleasant Make a reservation because I saw people being turned away due to the limited seating If your seeking decent food at a great price, give this place a try

Recommend have the best steak; I didn't, had a NY strip kind of steak. Others had a fillet which was softer, and easier to eat, and better. Vegetables were good. Wine pour was ok, but price at $8.00 for a Pino Noir. Groupon made for a low cost meal.

Amazing!!! The food and service were both SO GOOD!!! It is a great feeling to find a restaurant that serves delicious food.....so many places I visit are beyond disappointing, but not Oaki! I had the volcano sea bass, extra spicy. The fish was cooked and seasoned to perfection. It was one of the best restaurant dishes I have had in a long time! My husband got hibachi filet mignon and lobster....these were also delicious and cooked to perfection! The spring roll appetizer and chicken satay were so tasty and came with amazing sauces. I love extra spice and my husband hates spicy, so they brought out a Thai spice tray and I was able to add extra thai chili sauce and spices to my food. How great!!!! The owner and server were beyond hospitable and provided outstanding, friendly service....something that is so hard to find in Florida! We will definitely go back again!!! I cant wait to try their scallops! Thank you Oaki!

A pleasant surprise! The establishment is not in an attractive location but the interior was clean and modern. The staff was very nice and friendly. With any fusion restaurant, you cannot expect an "authentic" cuisine as it is intended to be fusion. The dishes we tried were well prepared and the flavors blended well. For example, one of the sauces for the hibachi dish had a plum sauce in it which differs slightly from the standard hibachi places like Benihana and Kenkou. Another nice fusion was in their fried rice. Instead of butter only, it was a blend of butter and oil which resulted in a less heavy dish. The biggest surprise was the blend of white and blsck pepper in the fried rice. White pepper is common in traditional Taiwanese and mainland Chinese dishes. The blend yielded a very delicious dish! We look forward to going back and trying out more dishes.

My experience at Oaki was a nice one. The place was small, but charming. The waiter was very nice and attentive. We were greeted by the restaurant start from the beginning and on our departure. The food was nicely presented. I had the hibachi steak and shrimp combination with white rice. The food was very flavorful! The steak was a little tough, but still good. The waiter brought me out some free fried rice when I commented that I was used to having fried rice with my hibachi. I would definitely go back again!

I hate writing reviews about restaurants like the Oaki Steakhouse restaurant because they leave me nothing to complain about! Oh I guess I could say something about not having fountain soda drinks and charging $2 for a can of soda and I could even get pettier by saying that even if it is an Asian restaurant they should have coffee. How about the chef not serving the scallops because he didn't like the way the order looked when it came in that morning? Okay, from the moment we entered this unassuming looking restaurant in a strip shopping area our jaws dropped with how they used a small space to make a spacious feeling place to dine. Upon entering we saw a beautiful fish tank filled with colorful goldfish that I had to take a picture of and as I was doing that we were greeted by Sadaf with a big smile who got me laughing right away. All restaurants should have an equivalent of a Sadaf but servers like her are hard to find. She sat us at the first booth near the window with backs high enough you feel as if you had the place to yourself and they are situated in such a way that you forget you are in a shopping center.. You could watch the chef at work or smile at the 'gold' Buddha or even the 'gold' monkey. Sadaf very quickly got our drinks and when I asked what she would suggest instead of saying the standard "Everything is great," she suggested a few items, though not the Hibachi dinner with shrimp and scallops which is how we found out about the chef who knows what he is doing! I had the hibachi chicken and shrimp ($14 at lunch) and Allen had the steak and shrimp ($14 at lunch). Both are served with Mimosa soup or house salad. I had the soup which was delicious and Allen had the salad with a great dressing. Our main courses were presented as a work of art with the meat, seafood, rice, assorted vegetables spread on a white plate and a trio of sauces on the side. (Shhhh--we won't tell anyone of the one mistake Sadaf made and covered up beautifully having, once again, put a smile on our face--and the party in the next booth!) The food tasted as good as it looked and both Sadaf and a gentleman (waiter? Owner? Manager?), who was as efficient and friendly as she was, worked smoothly together. It being Allen's birthday we decided to have dessert and he had the fired honey bananas with a large serving of ice cream ($8) and I had crazy donuts with Hershey's chocolate and vanilla syrup ($7), both as good as they sound and once again presented in a beautiful way. With the sodas ($4), tip ($10) and tax ($2.35) plus a 15% discount coupon ($6.90) the check came to $51.45 We will definitely keep on going back to the Oaki Steakhouse until we find out where they go wrong! :O)

This place is just great. We had a bit of a wait (20 so minutes) with having a reservation. But I am so glad we stayed. The seating is intimate with separated booths and ambient lighting. There is a fish tank in the corner with coy fish. We ordered crab ragoon, steak & shrimp hibachi, and hot sake. All were amazing. Included were yum yum sauce and hibachi steak sauce, and a ginger sauce. The meal came with choice of soup or salad and white rice or fried rice(+$2) I suggest the fried rice it was very light, fluffy, and delish! The thing that really made me fall in love with this place is that the owner came over out of nowhere towards the end of our meal and brought us a free desert! He said he felt bad that we had to wait so long. I was so full already but the desert was so damn good. It was some sort of fried banana wonton with vanilla ice cream. Then on top of it he brought over a bottle of hot sake and we did a few shots together and just started chit chatting. He made me feel like I had been coming there for years and this was my first visit. I will definitely be coming back again and again. My advice to you is that if there is a wait for you when you get there, STAY put! There must be a reason why the restaurant is full :)

If you are looking for a Benihana tasting meal without the table side cooking or fanfare this is the place. This restaurant seems to be locally owned and on more than one occasion we gave been given a complimentary appetizer or dessert "just because". I'd recommend this place to my friends.

I can't believe I just discovered this gem. Driving by you would think it is yet another little place in a plaza. I had a Groupon, and read the reviews which were promising. We are very picky eaters and were pleasantly surprised. Anyways I can't wait to go back again. The OAKI rice was wonderful, fresh and delicious. The salad was great and my dinner partner raved about how tender the steak was in the Hibachi steak and shrimp. Great, great find !

You will be surprised to fine this delightful place tucked away in a strip mall next to Radio Shack. Intimate setting. Personal attention. And the food is excellent. Fresh, seasoned perfectly, and delicious. Asian fusion beyond expectations. If you haven't tried this diamond in the tough - please do. You will be blown away!

Oaki is an Asian restaurant that is much better, trendy bright fresh and modern looking on the inside than one would guess from the outside with its location being the end position of a struggling strip mall consisting basically of a Radio Shack and a hair/nail saloons. Indeed I found the interior décor to be dashingly clean, new, pleasant and comfortable. Oaki lists itself as an Asian Steak House, so I expected to see mostly meats, a good variety of them along with a host of various preparations on the menu, but was surprised to find that such was not really the case. Yes, it has a good assortment of meats and meat preparations but seemingly nearly as much seafood, chicken and duck. Since it billed itself out as a steak house I of course went for the steak Hibachi Filet done medium rare. I was first presented with the meal salad which consisted of the typically shredded sort of julienned styled carrot, some lettuce and not much else but redeemed by some of the very best tasting Asian salad dressing I've ever had. The steak came perfectly prepared, as ordered, cut into small sections accompanied by three sauces, one sort of tasting like a sweetened teriyaki, the other kind of like an Asian barbecue and the third, a white sauce, most definitely not for meat but for fish. The only answer I could get with regards to the fish sauce was that since the sauce bowls had three spaces it didn't seem right to leave one blank and was filled just in case I ordered a seafood type of appetizer to go with my meal. The service was good and the meat tasty but other than the sauces or presentation I failed to see anything particularly Asian about it, unique or outstanding. The problem with Oaki is that the Fort Lauderdale has so many really top notch Asian, Thai, Japanese and top notch Asian Fusion (read Café Sharaku) restaurants that, to rate better than merely being OK, any Asian food chef has to nearly be capable of walking on water when it comes to the magic of presentation, quality and taste of preparation. In other locations Oaki would clearly be 4 stars but with the competition in this area, I can only peg it at three stars.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday. Small place tucked into a tiny strip mall on Federal but easy to find. Food was delicious and nicely presented. The service was fast and courteous with prices that are quite reasonable. We are looking forward to our next visit to this restaurant.

Seriously, my boyfriend and I are super picky and I would give this place 1,000,000 stars if I could. I got the filet hibachi and he got the filet and chicken hibachi. They both come with delicious vegetables and we chose fried rice. Everything was seriously perfect. After every bite the was an "mmmm" or an "ohmigursh" As for the service, it was perfect. Everyone was so polite. The table was wiped down when dirty plates were taken and drink glasses were always full. I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more. It's really hard to find a good place down here. This is a GREAT one :)

After reading the reviews I was looking forward to trying the pad thai. I must say I was EXTREMELY disappointed! The pad thai was very bland, almost as though it was missing an ingredient. Literally could be the worst I've ever had. My husband got hibachi, it was OK. The service was good but you leave stinking like hibachi. I'm not sure how this place gets 4/5 stars. I guess some people just don't know good food. If you want real thai food, go across the street to bayshore thai. You won't be disappointed.

The food was really good! Don't let the outside fool you, it looked a little sketchy, but it's not. The food and the people were great. We got the hibachi chicken and shrimp and steak and shrimp. If you're looking for a chill place with good food, I would highly recommend it!

Came upon this place because of a Groupon offer. Used the lunchtime offer today and based upon other review I was very excited. Yes, the little strip mall its in looks like crap but the actual inside of this intimate place is chic modern botique-ish! Ordered the crab rangoon appetizer, could tell they were made here fresh... though not enough filling, they were very good & sauce tasty too! For main dish I had the hibachi steak & shrimp. It came with a little salad that had a yummy ginger dressing.

The food is good here and the staff is even better! We went for a friends birthday and had a great experience. When you mix in good food and good service, you really can't go wrong :) we had the hibachi, fried rice, beef skewers and tempura cheesecake - delicious!! They also have the birthday boy ice cream with a candle. Great atmosphere! We will definitely be back.

This is our favorite restaurant in ft Lauderdale. Visited 5 times still consistent. Food is 10 times better than Benihana and half the price. I recommend the filet and lobster with Oaki fried rice and for desert, Crazy Donuts! Trust me this place is off the chain!

As always...this place offers so much to YELP about. Quality food cooked to perfection by a skilled hibachi chef. Try the Sea bass, Calamari, Steak or any of the hibachi items for a guaranteed quality dining experience. One of favorites small table experiences in Fort Lauderdale.

I love this place! We went because of the high ratings, and it didn't disappoint. We go every few weeks to enjoy the awesome hibachi steak dinners. The meat is tender and perfectly prepared, and the accompanying rice and vegetables are delicious. The service and the chef (the kitchen is open) are friendly, and aim to please. What a great find in Fort Lauderdale.

I've been to Oaki Steakhouse three times in the last two weeks, so this will be a great review! On my first visit I had their Pad Thai lunch special, which was about the best I've had in Fort Lauderdale! (If you've read my other reviews, you know I'm pretty serious about my Pad Thai.) It was a close to authentic as the state of Florida will allow with a nice slightly sweet, not drippy-wet sauce, plenty of chicken and great flavor. I knew the lunch special came with a basic salad (amazing Asian dressing) but I was surprised the entree was also served with a fresh crispy crab rangoon. A nice touch! My second time I took a couple of friends. One had the Pad Thai Shrimp (on my recommendation) and loved it. The other ordered the Hibachi steak. A huge portion, grilled perfectly with fresh gilled vegetables and an assortment of dipping sauces. I was jealous! My friend Paul said it was better than Thai Spice! (And a lot less expensive!) The third time I brought a Thai friend from Chicago. He knows how lame the Asian food in this town can be, so he wasn't expecting much. He ordered the Shrimp and Scallops Hibachi combo. It came with 8 large scallops and 8 large shrimp - about twice as much food as expected. The grilled veggies were outstanding! He was thrilled with his choice and the entire restaurant. I ordered (I don't remember the exact name) Green Curry noodles with shrimp and scallops. Asian curries can be really hit-or-miss, but Okai's version was spot on! It was rich and buttery (not creamy, curries aren't creamy in Asia) with just enough kick to make it enjoyable, fresh rice noodles and a huge portion of shrimp and scallops. I loved it so much I nearly licked the plate! Oaki has an open kitchen so you can see your food being prepared. All three times I was there I saw the same men cooking. I assume they are the owners which is probably why the food is so constantly delicious. The service is always top-notch with friendly, knowledgable and attentive staff. Oaki Steakhouse is worth checking out. It will definitely become one your favorite Asian restaurants too!

Oh, how I LOVE this place. From the outside, it's quite unassuming (in a small strip mall next to RadioShack), but what awaits inside is such a treat. If you work anywhere nearby, I highly recommend any of their lunch specials. My fave is the mango salmon, a generous piece of perfectly grilled salmon covered with delectable slices of sweet mango and lightly drizzled with a just so slightly spicy and tangy sauce. It comes with miso soup or salad, very fresh and crisp stir-fried mixed veggies, and rice (steamed, fried, or brown). It is not easy to find something so tasty, and yet very healthy, for lunch these days- this fits the bill for me! There are also multiple hibachi lunch specials, and one can order a combination of any of the proteins. Everyone in my family particularly praises the hibachi calamari- not your ordinary thin ringlets of calamari, but actual chunks of tender calamari steak. By itself or in combination with steak, chicken, or shrimp-- yum! All the hibachi dishes are served with a trio of sauces, served on the side. In an effort to watch my carb intake, I have not ordered the bun-rice vermicelli bowl (rice noodles with shredded vegetables and lemongrass chicken) in a while, but those of you who enjoy Vietnamese food will like Oaki's version. Another plus: The steamed chicken gyoza are prepared with the dumpling skins that any full-blooded Asian knows are the best- the paper-thin ones that allow the flavor of the filling to take the spotlight, not the thick, doughy ones so common these days. Lastly, I should mention that Mike, the chef owner, and Kim, the head waiter, are two very cool guys who go out of their way for their customers. Thanks, Oaki!

If you want a nice quiet place to have a great dinner this is one of the best in Oakland Park/Fort Lauderdale! If you are after beef, pork' seafood ' vegetarian dishes or just a glass of wine, (nice Asian selections)and/or an appetizer, they are all outstanding at Oaki! Our waiter, Kim said it best, 'our chef knows his hibachi'.
